Our story - who we are
We believe coffee is one of life’s necessities. Brewing and selling coffee is a natural extension of our passion for the beverage and its ability to bring people together. On the Edge is an independent family business on the east edge of downtown Edmonton. We live in and around central Edmonton: downtown, in Riverdale, and in Boyle. We support the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market as our place of employment and our closest primary grocery store. We are proud vendors and feel privileged to be able to buy healthy sustainable local food in such a great location – the historic GWG/Army and Navy building on 97 Street.
What we sell
On the Edge sells specialty coffee from beans grown and produced around the world. We work with roasters who source beans ethically, pay farmers enough to help them earn a decent living. On The Edge currently works with a variety of local roasters.
We are committed to the downtown and its market
We support local! One of our roasters, The Grizzlar, is a companion downtown Edmonton business with a commitment to the city’s core through the Community C.U.P. program, which supplies coffee – good coffee, not leftovers – to our neighbours who can’t always afford it. The Grizzlar donates 10% of its roastery output weight to Boyle Street Community Services. Our equipment supplier, National Cappuccino, is just a few doors south of the market on 97 Street. We provide our customers with bite-sized treats from around our market that complement our brews – chocolate from Nest Whole Foods, macarons from Whipped Up Baked Goods, biscotti from OMG Oh My Goodies, and gluten-free cookies from Persian Empire Pastry.
We sell and deliver beans – to customers nearby
Any of our coffees can be delivered. We use Canada Post for distant deliveries, and for local we pretty well stick to the north side of the North Saskatchewan and prefer to deliver on foot. But... Cloverdale; Old Strathcona, Forest Heights, Terrace Heights, Strathearn are OK too, we have a van, and bikes. If you need your beans ground, please give us advance notice and tell us how you brew – pour-over, french press, espresso, etc. – so we can give you the right grind. If you let us know what you want before the weekend, we can bring you treats, baked goods, and such from the market with your coffee delivery.
